So, even if I could possibly never run 2.4 km in 12 mins, that I have the will to even do it is the main thing they're looking for?
Don't worry, I wasn't ever thinking about joining the military for the pay, just for say summer pay, since I do have university to think about in a year, lol.
As for guns, meh, I can wait for those, especially if I have to learn military law, which I think would be awesome! Since some of you guys have been/are in the Reserves/Regular forces, how good is their language program, if it is any different to say, a regular school course?
Also, how long have those who are in the forces been in them?

They want to know if you are willing to push yourself beyond your 'comfort zone', to find out what your limits are and exceed them.
Don't worry, I wasn't ever thinking about joining the military for the pay, just for say summer pay, since I do have university to think about in a year, lol. You can do the all inclusive plan - I think it's 6 years, and they pay for your University.
As for guns, meh, I can wait for those, especially if I have to learn military law, which I think would be awesome! You can specialize in Communications (Trade 251, or 291) where they will teach you a basic knowledge of certain languages. They used to be mostly east European (German, Russian etc.) during the cold war years, now I hear it's Serbo-Croation, Arabic and Asian languages. I wonder why . . .
Also, how long have those who are in the forces been in them?
Been out 12 years. I know people who put in 25 years, and 'retire' in their 40's on half pay.

So, training seems "easy" enough to get through with, if it's just will power alone, lol.
I'm still curious about pay however, and as for this whole language as a trade, would it be possible to just take French and Arabic? I figure Arabic will be important in the next few coming decades, so I wouldn't mind taking it. However, I kinda suck at languages, so this is why I'm asking if I can just take 2.

Honestly, I don't know if you can take more than one language. But you will pick up some French 'just because'. Usually there are French instructors, and candidates too. You'd pick up some conversational French on that alone.

You would only be taught Arabic if you decided on a trade that required it (like communications). 251'rs wouldn't probabally learn Arabic. They are field communications. 291ers are the SIGINT people, that would be where you'd learn Arabic etc. Unless you went the college route. Then it would depend on your courses.

I remember the pay was good, not great for someone in my late teens/early twenties. If you lived in Barracks, it was a little better because they didn't deduct the cost of PMQ's (Private Military Quarters). Usually if your married you get the PMQ's. IIRC, pay was around $1600 a month for your average private. Not bad, but your room and board was free, so there were no expenses. Gaining a trade and a stripe improves that too.
