Whalen and Stymiest, you two both seem to know a lot about military equipment and such. And since it IS a part of the big picture, can you recommend some web sites or other references for military equipment?

I guess some of this information will be classified, but I'd really like some clue as to what exactly our government spends its defense dollars on.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide

Glad you're interested Kory. Here's some of the military sources I use:

Air Force Technology

Army Technology

Naval Technology

Strategy Page

Army.ca

Department of National Defense

Good show Whalen

I also recommend

Global Security

DND offers a comprehensive list of our military's acquisitions and assets

I'd also recommend a book called How To Mak War by james dunnigan

If you want too you could go check out some manufacturers websites such as Diemaco which provide Canadian armed forces with its small arms.
I believe the EH-101 was a better helicopter and it should of been purchased in the first place. Some people withint the forces still feel the EH-101 is a more capable machine then the H-92. Who knows how much the libs got these for though.

Just for the record, they blew $500 million in cancellation fees when they broke the deal for the EH-101.

The military variant of the S-92 was chosen because the CF doesn't have any need for "Cadillac" equipment.

Cadillace equipment that we could use. If this is about the Arrow, let it go. We've argued it into the ground.

firstly canuck our ships are useless without ASW Helis. They are the eyes and ears of our navy. Secondly making ties with the avro arrow and a sea king replacement is possibly the stupidest thing I have heard all day

You have made my day Canuck. You know what I like a lot ofd your ideas on this site as far as domestic issues are concerned. Same goes for a lot of policy here but as far as foreign and security is concerned you guys suck

Well I like Dr. Caleb he gives good input

I still can't believe our government though they'd be "saving face" by buying less capable helicopters for a higher cost from the country that is harassing our industries, rather than a superior, and battle-tested helicopter from Europe.

Crazy, and embarrassing--God these fools are out of touch.

The S-92 has NEVER been created--it's like the friggin' Bomarc Missile.

I do admit our forces are trying to cater to the american defence industry but this is the reality when making military deals. Its gone on for so long I doubt it will ever change.
The S-92 has NEVER been created--it's like the friggin' Bomarc Missile. [/QUOTE]
