I don't think we should adjust our priorities to reflect the UN's criteria for measuring quality of life. Those criteria are just generalized indicators.

What we SHOULD do, however, is make a concerted effort to actually improve the quality of life here in Canada instead of begging foreign investors to buy our country in the hopes that they will incidentally improve life in Canada while pursuing maximum profits. Allowing free-market economics to determine priorities undermines our democratic voice. For us to control our destiny for the benefit of the people, we must be a strong, sovereign nation that actively pursues ideals, not a weak puppet state that perpetuates the free-market class division that spawns war, famine, civil unrest, infant mortality, illiteracy, crash-and-burn economies, environmental degradation, and the propagation of civil rights violations.
