Cera, the middle child of three siblings, was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, the son of Linda and Luigi Cera, a Xerox technician. Cera's father is Sicilian. Cera has two sisters and, as of 2007, still lives with his parents in Brampton. He attended Heart Lake Secondary School. His first role was for a Summer Camp commercial by Tim Hortons.
