The question of choice is the only one I'm commenting on. The CWB was an opt-in organization for a long time, and this only changed during the second world war, as an emergency measure. We have not experienced such hardship since, yet the draconian wartime measures remain in place. How would you lik...

"The oligarchy of the buyers would play the individual growers against each other and drive the price down, and if anyone here says that wouldn't happen, then I defy them to do so directly so I can call them either misinformed or a liar." You're absolutely right, in the small scope of the ...

I thought I had mentioned that. Either way, the Wheat Board in it's current form is literally collectivization at gunpoint. (To those of you who missed the previous century, forced collectivization is a failure of both economics and human rights.) If anyone doesn't believe that, just ask Alberta far...

"“Whether you agree with the Wheat Board or not, the feds are being totally undemocratic,” said Allen Oberg." Wow. Freedom is Slavery. The feds are being totally undemocratic, because they want to give individuals the freedom to sell food to whomever they please? Property rights are undemo...

It's refreshing to see people with good common sense, and a handle on what is morally right. There is no need for a state called Israel, and it has proven to cause far more problems than it has solved.

Does anyone know what proportion of Israelis have this belief? How widespread is it?

It's called a "straw man" argument. You set up an absurd situation or person (doctors practicing without licence), and sucessfully attack that idea. Therefore you win. Or rather, you show yourself to be an idiot. Come back when you have a valid argument, instead of comparing selling wheat ...

If you honestly believe anyone should be able to open up shop and call themselves a brain surgeon, and that this has anything to do with selling wheat, you truly are an idiot.

Idiot. That's a safety issue.

I have no problem with any kind of health checks on wheat.

In my opinion, good riddance. The wheat board was an affront to basic property rights. A farmer should have the freedom to sell his grain to anyone he damn well pleases. The Wheat Board should have been an opt-in organization all along, not a forced monopoly.

How would you l...

Canada seems to be doing just fine with a minimum wage. Considering most people would find it hard or impossible to survive on a minimum wage, it's a non-issue anyways. All minimum wage laws do is outlaw those few extreme cases of abuse. Besides, for determined employers/employees the laws are easy ...

A quick look at the specs:

Katyusha payload: 22kg
V-2 payload: 1000kg

The V-2 was a liquid-fuel rocket that was the basis of the US space program. The Katyusha has more in common with your local hobby rocket. A real army would only use those if desperate.

Not quite comparable.

I agree. When reading historical news headlines, from the time of around 1947, when Israel was first created, all the headlines followed this format "Jewish terrorsists attack Muslims". I kid you not. This is the story of Jewish terrorists stealing land, and then claiming self defence when...

The problem with war is that both sides see their unreasonable hatred as a fight between good and evil. Jews see it as anti-semitism. Arabs see it as terrorism and land theft. The sad thing is that they are both right. To those that say Jews are incapable of terrorism have forgotten history. At the ...
